    Saturday 17 November 2012 14:41

Republic of Indonesia formally joined COMSTECH Inter-Islamic Network on Virtual Universities (CINVU). The Ambassador of Indonesia to Tehran, H.E. Mr. Dian Wirengjurit, signed on 26th September 2012 the membership acceptance document-a final step for formal entry. "Republic of Iraq has already joined the network and this membership reflects Indonesian commitment to the promotion of excellence in the E learning profession, and also getting access to convenient continuing education training," the Head of CINVU, Mahdi Javanmard, said yesterday. /

"Most important, as the many initiatives of the CINVU include education improvement, economic development and positive collaboration with other members of Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the action can make a positive difference in Indonesian open and distance learning (ODL) system. CINVU's mission is to connect OIC countries to a successful ODL opportunity. It is a not-for-profit membership organization committed to excellence and equity in education," he added. "I trust that Republic of Indonesia can benefit from these partnerships through networking forums to promote meaningful quality education." /

"As a consequence of the CINVU accession, the Chief Education Officer, or CEO, of a member country (whose title may be principal, chancellor, superintendent or president, among others) appoints a delegate to serve on our international assemblies. Delegates are the direct link between their countriesand the CINVU Board. They attend assembly meetings and represent their countries in elections. Delegates are the ones who vote to accept new members and who select the members of the CINVU Board," Dr. Javanmard said in a statement. "Joining CINVU is a sign of confidence in the network and in what it can deliver for its members", Javanmard added. /

COMSTECH Inter-Islamic Network on Virtual Universities (INVU) is a legally independent governmental organization, which is administered by the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technical Cooperation (COMSTECH) under the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC). INVU was officially opened by the coordinator general of COMSTECH on 8th January 2012 at Payam Noor University (PNU) which is the permanent secretariat of the Network. /INVU
